Monday May 22, 6:00pm Body image is a person’s perception of the aesthetics or physical attractiveness of their own body. It involves how a person sees themselves, compared to the standards that have been set by society. How does one’s body image develop positively or negatively, and how can we go about improving our own body image? Many individuals struggle to feel happy with the way that they look, especially when it comes to our bodies. The media sends conflicting messages about how we should feel about our bodies: “Love yourself the way you are”… and the next message is an ad for a fad diet or anti-aging cream. The same goes for the yoga industry: The words say "yoga is for Every Body" the imagery says "Yoga is for the lithe and limber." All of these messages can be confusing, but with some shifts to our thought patterns, we can begin to foster a positive body image for ourselves and teach youth to develop a positive body image too. COST: FREE Please register for this free event, so we know how many to expect. Thank you! |
